Fiddler's Farmhouse

A delightful retreat, and simply perfect central air-conditioned accommodations for those attending workshops at The Omega Institute. This unhosted three bedroom / two bath, renovated 1850 farmhouse is just over a mile from Omega, a 10 minute drive to The Olde Rhinebeck Inn, and fifteen minutes from the center of historic Rhinebeck village. You can reserve either the upstairs and take one or both rooms, or reserve the downstairs only, with guests sharing all common rooms and outdoor space. Available year round for rent by the week, weekend or month, (two night minimum stay required) Fiddlers Farmhouse makes for an ideal base for exploring the Hudson Valley, hosting an intimate country barn wedding, or sampling what having a getaway house in Rhinebeck might be like. The farmhouse has just been renovated in the Spring of 2012, and both tastefully and thoughtfully appointed to ensure a splendid stay.

Spacious first floor queen bedroom with oversized lounge chair and ottoman. Large oriental rugs are prime for yoga practice. Attractive, bright bathroom with shower is located down the hall, fine toiletries, fluffy towels, bathrobes and hair dryer provided.

Located at the top of the stairs on the right. This garden inspired room is outfitted with a one queen bed and one twin sized day bed. There is a petite Victorian writing desk, a reading chair, and botanical floral prints. This room gets late afternoon sun, dappled through the large trees, however, the custom roman shades block the light, making an afternoon slumber even more likely. This room can comfortably sleep two adults in separate beds, has a full length mirror, large closet and robes provided. There is a full bath with tub/shower upstairs, accessed from the hall between both bedrooms. Fine toiletries, fluffy towels, bathrobes and hair dryer provided.

Upstairs on the left, is the twin room that is set up as a mirror image of itself. Perfect for friends or sisters traveling together preferring not to share a bed. This room is bathed in early morning light and overlooks the red barn complex and the East yard, offering glimpses to the flock of sheep kept next door. Two separate walk-in closets, ample dresser space, plush bathrobes, window a/c unit, reading chair and full length mirror are provided. There is a full bath with tub/shower upstairs, accessed from the hall between both bedrooms. Fine toiletries, fluffy towels, bathrobes and hair dryer provided.

Kitchen- The Kitchen is outfitted with everything you need; utensils, glassware, kitchen gadgets and accoutrements so that you may cook with ease. Unfortunately, there is no dishwasher, so clean up is "old school". Microwave, toaster oven, coffeemaker, pots, pans, dishes, bowls, glasses etc. provided.

Living/Dining Room- Whether to take a meal, read a book or socialize, please make yourselves at home here. There is now a flat screen tv in this room, kindly be considerate of the other guests should there be any during your stay. South wall is adorned with wire implements of an earlier day, including rug whackers, agrarian rake, early fry basket and soap saver. Oil and watercolor landscapes both lend themselves to a serene scene. Although the farmhouse is over 150 years in age, it is outfitted with contemporary features such as wireless high speed internet, and cordless digital phone.

Front and back porches look onto a classic Wallace Nutting setting complete with ambling brook babbling by. This brook terminates at a pond towards the back end of the land and contributes greatly to the variety of animal species found here. The premier place to sit though, has to be beneath the grand old willow tree lulled by the sound of the water tumbling over rocks in the creek. The home is on a large property that is still an active hay farm, and the barns, add quite a bit to the visual landscape. We ask however, that the red barns be admired from the exterior only, and cannot permit their entrance.

Fiddlers Farmhouse and grounds make for an ideal location for an intimate wedding. The site captures the charm and beauty of the landscape of Hudson Valley and it's history is evident in the rural architecture and agricultural buildings that decorate the scene. Wonderful backdrops abound, providing for memorable photo opportunities everywhere. There is a smaller, rustic shell structure for catered events up to 30 people.
